NYC Housing and Vacancy Survey (HVS)
The New York City Housing and Vacancy Survey (NYC HVS) is a citywide, representative survey of New York City’s housing stock and population that is fielded about every three years by the US Census Bureau on behalf of the City of New York. The HVS contains comprehensive data on housing, neighborhoods and tenant demographics. Links to findings for each HVS be found below. The most recent available HVS is from 2023. For additional information about the HVS, including data tables, microdata (from 1991 to 2023), documentation materials, definitions, and survey forms, see the NYC Housing Preservation & Development (HPD) HVS website.
